LEONARDO at the EIT Manufacturing Summit 2023: The role of skills to move the needle
Sustainable manufacturing innovation in Europe: the role of skills to move the needle was the theme of the 2023 EIT Manufacturing Summit held on November 20 and 21st in Brussels, Belgium. In line with the theme of the summit, the LEONARDO project was presented in the summit’s exhibition area to 200+ curious participants from academia and industry.
The EIT Manufacturing summit covered current skills challenges, such as the labour shortage, the skills gap, and the daily hunt for talent considering a European Context. Welcoming an audience from politics, academia, industry and start-ups, conversations on stage revealed the complexity and interconnectedness of challenges and opportunities in this field.
In her wrap-up of the summit, EIT Manufacturing CEO Caroline Viarouge put the conversation on skills into the context of the manufacturing industry as one of the bases for prosperity in Europe. With the challenges and complexities, there are, “sometimes we have the feeling that we are behind, but this is not true: 25% of the world’s manufacturing output comes from Europe.” She also pointed to the amazing basis that Europe had to move forward from.
Addressing those challenges, the LEONARDO project innovatively focuses on skill development by utilising a small-scale brewing system that will serve as a fantastic learning environment for students and shape the future of H-IEM Education within the European community.
