LEONARDO in Aveiro: Combining science & the profane

Prof. Antonio Padovano had the unique chance to serve as a keynote speaker at the international ESTIEM council meeting, hosted at the University of Aveiro from April 11th to April 12th, 2024. ESTIEM, the European Association of Students of Industrial Engineering and Management, is an associated partner of the LEONARDO project. In his keynote speech, Prof. Padovano presented the LEONARDO project to 250+ interested ESTIEMers and highlighted the importance of human centricity in industrial engineering and management education.

Additionally, a workshop on value-based engineering and responsible technology design combined science and the profane. The Tarot Cards of Tech were used to analyze the ethical requirements of students using three different types of technologies in the LEONARDO learning factory:
1) a simulation-based digital twin
2) an augmented reality tool for assistance
3) an artificial intelligence tool for data analytic

Ultimately, students are the end-users of the learning factory and are challenged with project work to inspire the project consortium by sharing their requirements and requests.
